Most nights this building hosts two or three people at a time. Once a year we open it to a crowd. Thirty guests, four hours after dark, and every piece of equipment we own.
The lodge was built in the 1820s as the King family home, and Henry Fidelio King raised his family here while serving as village postmaster and town supervisor. It passed to his son Ellis Vial King, who held it until his death in 1917. Dr. George W. Earle bought the property the following year and gave it to the Masons. It has been in continuous use ever since, as a lodge, as a schoolhouse after the village school burned in 1929, and for a time as the town library. One member died here during a meeting in 1980. Two centuries in one building leaves a residue.

Check in, sign your waiver, and get settled. Please arrive by 6:30 so we can start on time.

History, tour and equipment
The story of the building, a walk through the lodge, and a demonstration of everything we use. All thirty of us together, which is the largest group this building sees all year. If anything is going to react to a room full of people, this is when it happens.

Into three groups
We split into groups of ten and begin rotating. Each group gets a full hour in each location, with an investigator alongside you throughout.

What to bring

- Layers. Parts of the lodge are cold by late October
- Comfortable footwear you can manage stairs in
- Your own equipment or camera, if you have them
Film whatever you like and post it wherever you like. We only ask that you credit the lodge so people can find us.
Before you book
This event involves stairs. Two of the three locations are reached by steep, narrow staircases, and every group visits both. If stairs are difficult for you, this particular event is not the right one. Our private investigations can be planned around what works for you, so get in touch and we will arrange something instead.
Ages. We recommend 15 and up. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the whole evening.
Waiver. Everyone signs a liability waiver on arrival. Guests under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign for them.
No alcohol. Not permitted on the property at any time.
Refunds. Seven or more days before the event, full refund. One to six days before, 50 percent. Less than 24 hours, or a no-show, non-refundable. Because this is a single evening, we cannot offer a reschedule.
Parking. The lot just north of the building. Come in through the front entrance and we will meet you there.
